Usk Turns Pink for Charity Gardens Open Weekend

A record £530 was collected in the sunshine of 26 June by Usk and District Friends of Cancer Research U.K. where the floral displays of Usk were used as a backdrop.    The collection was aided by Usk in Bloom volunteers pink geraniums and their ‘cancer ribbon’ logo picked out in pink begonias in Twyn Square.  The town’s retailer’s also joined in, with many dressing their windows in pink for the occasion.  This year the prize for ‘the best dressed window’ was won by Bridge Street hairdressers ‘Tangles’.  Runners-up were ‘The Copper Tree’, ‘Extons’, ‘Perfect Image’ and ‘St David’s Foundation’    Remaining gardening/floral classes of the Town Competition run by  Usk in Bloom will be on Wednesday 21 July .
